The Bombardier Global 5500 aircraft will delight you with a stunningly wide cabin, refined interior design, powerful engines and leading-edge wing technology for a heightened flight experience that is uniquely Global.

The Bombardier Global 5500 program was launched in February 2002 and took its maiden flight in March 2003 as the first true development of the Global Express, which itself entered service in 1999. Transport Canada granted type certification in March 2004, European Joint Aviation Authorities in July 2004, and the FAA in September 2004. The Bombardier Global 5000 entered service in April 2005.

The Global 5500 aircraft’s wide-open living spaces are where form and function come together in a visually stunning environment. The latest technology keeps you connected and entertained, while new innovative seating delivers the comfort you expect from a cabin built around you.

Superior range, speed, and cabin comfort are the main reasons why business aircraft operators were motivated to upgrade to the Bombardier Global 5000 from smaller, slower and shorter-range business aircraft. The Global 5000 can be easily recognized via its CRJ fuselage attached to a low swept super-critical wing with winglets. Originally, the aircraft has a 35,733-pound usable fuel capacity, sufficient for flying 4,800 nm at 566 knots and landing with NBAA IFR reserves.

When operators voiced that the Global 5000 did not have sufficient range, Bombardier introduced Service Bulletin 700-1A11-11-008, a $1 million modification to the refueling system that enabling the aircraft to fly 500+ nm farther. The jet is equipped with flat-panel Rockwell Collins ProLine Fusion equipment and a Vision cockpit, a system that some Bombardier demo pilots say is tops in the aviation industry. The cabin can carry up to 13 passengers, and three crew members.

The unit price of the Bombardier Global 5500 is $50.44 million. This jet remains in production today, and there is currently a total of 67 Global 5000/6000 models built.
