The 2022 Acura ILX is Light on its feet, the ILX meets your every impulse. With its energetic 201-HP82 i-VTEC® engine mated to a quick-shifting 8-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), you’re up for an invigorating driving experience that leaves the conventional at the curb. Aggressive styling adds a notably sportier and sophisticated look to the Acura ILX. Along with its bold exterior appearance, the ILX features cutting-edge technology upgrades and premium cabin appointments.
Now standard on all Acura sedans and SUVs, the ILX receives the collection of AcuraWatch™ active safety and driver-assistive technologies on every trim level. More intuitive menus and command structures in the available screen On Demand Multi-Use Display™ (ODMD™ 2.0) allow seamless access to infotainment. Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration allow you to bring the power of your compatible smartphone along for each journey.
ENGINE AND IMPLEMENTATION
In terms of performance, the ILX is powered by a standard 2.4-liter 4-Cylinder 16-Valve DOHC i-VTEC® Engine with 201 horsepower. An 8-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission features Paddle Shifters for precision control throughout the power band. A sport-tuned suspension featuring amplitude reactive dampers provides a composed, confident ride regardless of road conditions.
The engine revs easily and although the 2022 Acura ILX isn’t the quickest car in its class, its character makes us pine for the VTEC-powered Honda and Acura sedans from years gone by. Handling is poised and confident, but not particularly memorable; road and wind noise permeates the cabin here more than in rivals such as the Audi A3 or the Mercedes-Benz A-class, especially at highway speeds. Still, the smallest Acura sedan has excellent brake-pedal feedback.
ENERGY AND REAL WORLD-MPG
The 2022 Acura ILX earns fuel-economy ratings of 24 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway—competitive with front-wheel-drive versions of the A3 and A-class. Over our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, the ILX delivered exactly what its window sticker said it would: 34 mpg. For more information about the ILX’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.
INTERIOR, CONVENIENCE, AND BOOTH
As with other cars in this segment, the 2022 Acura ILX‘s cabin is roomy for the driver and the front-seat passenger but cramped for those in the rear. Standard equipment is plentiful and includes a sunroof, heated sport seats with power adjustments for the driver, and dual-zone automatic climate control. However, the dashboard design looks outdated compared with the slick-looking screens that adorn the dash of the A-class. While its interior cubby storage is nowhere near as useful as inside the Civic, the ILX has a large trunk that belies the sedan’s subcompact classification.
Quicker, more responsive, and easier to use — the 2022 Acura ILX features an available dual-screen On Demand Multi-Use Display™ (ODMD™ 2.0) interface with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration. Its 7-inch touchscreen has a capacitive display which is approximately 30% faster than the previous generation. Other standard features found inside every ILX include a power moonroof, Smart Entry & Push-Button Start, and a Multi-View Rear Camera. For unrivaled audio clarity, opt for the available Acura/ELS Studio® Audio System with a total of 10 speakers. You’ll always reach your destination safely and on-time thanks to available features like the Acura Navigation System with 3D View, Acuralink Real-Time Traffic, and Acuralink® Connected Services.
PROTECTION AND DRIVER-ASSISTANCE ASPECTS
The 2022 Acura ILX has a host of standard driver-assistance technology such as adaptive cruise control and more. For more information about the ILX’s crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites
