Kia has recently revealed the all-new 2023 Kia Niro. The all-new Niro embodies a bold look similar to what’s found on the recently revealed 2023 Sportage.
The all-new 2023 Kia Niro makes it simple to practice a sustainable lifestyle with its eco-friendly materials, advanced technology, and electric powertrains while it also fulfills the practical needs of customers.
Completely redesigned from the ground up, the all-new 2023 Kia Niro has been developed under the company’s Opposites United design philosophy.
It takes inspiration from nature in design and the choice of color, material, and finish to strike a perfect balance between an environmentally responsible approach and a future-oriented outlook.
When compared to the current Niro, the 2023 Kia Niro is considerably bigger in every dimension. The exterior of the car resembles the 2019 Habaniro concept with a two-toned body, swooped roofline, and a bold crossover look.
Consumers can choose between nine main body colors, six contrasting hues for the C-pillar, and three for the cladding and inside shades each. It has also been touched up with simple lines and a wider rear pillar that improves the aerodynamics of the car.
The taillights are more vertically placed, shaped like boomerangs that blend into the roofline while the back end combines surface treatments and dynamic sections to give a more modern look.
Also newly changed is the use of so-called heartbeat LED daytime running light headlights and the classic Kia “tiger face” front bumper, which has expanded and now extends from the hood to the fender.
The 2023 Kia Niro’s exterior design features a stylish and bold crossover look along with a high-tech, two-tone body. A wide pillar at the rear enhances airflow to improve aerodynamics and blends into the boomerang-shaped rear taillights.
Kia’s signature ‘tiger face’ has been transformed for the all-new 2023 Kia Niro and now extends from the hood, right through to the rugged fender below. The contemporary front design is finished with striking ‘heartbeat’ LED DRL (daytime running lights) which create confidence and a striking look on the road.
The unique vertical taillight design highlights aerodynamics and technology. It traces the vehicle’s wide and stable stance with its strong shoulders and upright windows.
The rear design of Niro blends simple surface treatments with dynamic sections to emphasize modernity and provide another point of attraction for consumers.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Like the 2022 model, the redesigned 2023 Kia Niro hybrid will be powered by a 139-hp hybrid powertrain comprised of a 1.6-liter four-cylinder and an electric motor. A six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission will be standard and the 2023 Niro will be offered only with front-wheel drive.
The plug-in hybrid powertrain hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s possible Kia will stick with the same setup the current model has, which uses the same basic powertrain as the regular hybrid model and simply adds a larger battery to provide the all-electric driving capability. When we find out more, we’ll update this story with details.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
A more sculptural interior design creates a more contemporary feel inside the new 2023 Kia Niro. Kia has used recycled materials and natural fibers such as eucalyptus leaves for the headliner and upholstery.
Passenger space is expected to be roughly the same as the outgoing Niro, meaning it’s not the most spacious SUV on the market, but should offer space for four adults and a cargo area big enough for a large grocery run.
Ambient interior lighting lends an upscale touch and a rotary shift knob replaces the lever-style gear selector found on the current model.
Infotainment and Connectivity
A large 10.3-inch infotainment display is expected to be standard across the Niro lineup and should run the latest version of Kia’s UVO infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will both likely be standard and should be usable via a wireless connection in most models.
As more information becomes available on the 2023 Kia Niro, we’ll update this story with more details about:
- Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
- Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
